Toyota’s Tokyo-Bound Noah and Voxy are Concepts for Next-Gen Spacious Minivans

7:59 AM

Concepts only by name, on the looks of it, the Noah and Voxy models are what Toyota calls “next-generation spacious minivans that provide the roomy interior needed by families and integrate higher levels of fun, utility and fuel economy.”

They feature a low-floor design, aimed at maximizing interior space to the extreme, giving all of the seven theoretical passengers lots of vertical room to… wave their arms around freely.

As you’d expect, the seating arrangement/layout is customizable, and it needs to be, for the kind of role these two vehicles are expected to fulfill.

Moving on to powertrains, Toyota will offer either a 2.0-liter petrol engine, or a hybrid variant that uses a smaller 1.8-liter unit. The latter has had the battery pack placed in such a way so as not to rob the interior of any extra space, even though it is not specifically explained how or where they put it.

If you take even a quick look at the four photos posted below, you will immediately realize that they’re basically one and the same vehicle, differentiated by their front fascias, body kits, rims and rear lights.

Japanese buyers can expect to see them in showrooms in the first part of 2014.
