Alpina Turns BMW 4-Series Coupe Into 404HP B4 Bi-Turbo at the Tokyo Motor Show

6:30 AM

The new BMW Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo made its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show today featuring the same powertrain as the 3-Series-based Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo.

The German aftermarket specialist’s take on the new BMW 4-Series Coupe is as traditional as ever, with the car featuring an understated but assertive look thanks to the elegant aerodynamic package, the hallmark 20-inch Alpina Classic twenty-spoke wheels and subtle details like the Alpina lettering on the front spoiler, blue brake calipers and signature twin tailpipes.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder 3.0-liter engine producing 404hp (410PS) at 5,500 rpm and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) from 3,000 rpm, the Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo could be considered as an alternative to the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe, given its performance specs: 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 4.2 seconds and top speed is 305 km/h (190 mph).

The engine is mated to an 8-speed Sport-Automatic transmission that contributes to a preliminary average fuel consumption of 7.6 l/100 km (31 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 177 g/km – corresponding to the B4 Bi-Turbo Coupe with rear-wheel drive. If you don’t believe that, Alpina says real life fuel consumption will easily drop below 10 l/100 km (23.5 mpg US).

The tuner will offer the B4 Bi-Turbo both as RWD and AWD, with export prices (excluding taxes) starting from €57,647 ($77,975) for the rear-wheel drive model and from €60,084 ($81,270) for the all-wheel drive model.
